Mother's Day Recipe

Okay, so I have a great idea for Mother's Day!

Now as you get to know me, you'll realize that those are my famous last words... my famous last words before I attack a crazy craft or lesson idea.  The problems challenges that arise when I state the above are as follows:

1. I am MUCH more creative that I am organized when it comes to projects
2. I am not good a cute crafty things. (I spend hours, jaw-dropped, on Pinterest marveling at the ideas!)

FACT: A teammate had to provide me an in-service during the first week of school.

Topic:
Mismatched Classroom Walls and You:
How to strategically unfold the corresponding colors of your border and butcher paper
on the classroom walls to create an appealing room environment

I'm not even kidding.

So here's my idea:

We've been writing a lot this year - and my kiddos are awesome at it! I want them to write a recipe that basically states the "ingredients" that make up their mom. Then they write "directions" which are basically the things that there mom does.  I will punch a little hole in the corner and tie it around some type of kitchen utensil.

I was thinking about a wooden spoon, but that seems kind of morbid. :/  (Which is a bummer, because they are not expensive!)

What other utensils can be purchased on the CHEAP and weren't used in the past five decades for child discipline?

What do you think of this cute idea? I'm excited!!

  1. I just found your blog and I'm so excited to start following you! :)

If you do wooden spoons, tie a ribbon around them so they seem less... abusive :)

Spatula? Is that not any better? I don't know!

Hmmm... I wonder if there are cute (cheap) aprons anywhere? Could be SO cute to let kids paint and decorate one.

Good luck! I love the idea of doing this.

    1. Thanks Jenny! This comment literally made me laugh out loud! Hilarious. Aprons are also a great idea! A friend suggested that I check out Ikea, so I think I'll head there tomorrow. Hopefully I'll find some cute, cheap kitchen stuff. Maybe I'll buy an assortment and have the kids pick what they'd like to give their mom.

Thanks for following me! Enjoy your Saturday!

  2. Maybe you can check out your local dollar tree for kitchen-type stuff. IKEA is also a fabulous choice. Just found your blog through Casey at Second Grade Math Maniac. :)

  6. Was just visiting Second in Line and saw a link to your blog. I'm following you now. Take a moment and stop by my blog...it's still a work in progress :) As for kitchen utensils, check out the dollar store. You might be able to find measuring cups or tablespoon/teaspoon sets on the cheap.
